Every pregnant woman and her family hope to have a healthy baby. This is what happens in the majority of cases. However, for some, complications may develop, or the patient may have a pre-existing condition that places the pregnancy at high risk. In such cases, the patient’s doctor may suggest a consultation with a maternal-fetal medicine specialist.
