Among the testing services available at the Antenatal Testing Center is 4-D ultrasound imaging equipment, which gives doctors the best view of developing babies.

This Is Just a Test

During pregnancy, women receive antenatal (or prenatal) testing. These tests detect or monitor health problems in the fetus and establish fetal characteristics, including age, gender and weight. The Antenatal Testing Center at Inova Loudoun Hospital offers the latest technology for evaluating and monitoring high-risk pregnancies. Among the services:

  • Obstetric consultations
  • Level II obstetric ultrasounds
  • 3D/4D ultrasounds for medical indications
  • Genetic/lung maturity amniocentesis
  • First-trimester genetic screening
  • Prenatal diagnostic procedures
  • Biophysical profiles
  • Nonstress testing
  • Fetal transfusions

Women in and around Loudoun County who have high-risk pregnancies now can receive testing at Inova Loudoun Hospital. The Antenatal Testing Center, which is located in the physician office building attached to the hospital, is opening in April.

“It’s an opportunity for us to increase the services that we’re giving to our moms, particularly our high-risk pregnancy moms-to-be, and give them an opportunity to have a higher level of care,” according to Cindy Andrejasich, Patient Care Director for Labor and Delivery and Perinatal Services.

The staff at the Center includes perinatologists (specialists in high-risk obstetrics) and OB sonographers. The Center features three nonstress testing stations, three ultrasound/diagnostic rooms and consultation areas. While the Center has services to accommodate high-risk moms, all moms-to-be can be cared for in the Center.

“This Center represents a positive development locally for women in the antenatal (before and up through birth) stage,” comments Alfred M. Khoury, MD, who specializes in high-risk pregnancies. “Those moms who need high-risk monitoring now have easy access to it.”

Conveniently located across from the Center is The Ladies Board Birthing Inn, so, if necessary, patients can go from one building to the other.
