Campus Undergoes Redevelopment to
Increase Size, Add Amenities
If you have driven past the Inova Loudoun Medical Campus – Leesburg recently, chances are things looked a little different. That is because the campus, located on Cornwall Street in downtown Leesburg, is undergoing a major renovation.
The $32 million project will increase the emergency department, along with the lab and radiology units, to 12,823 square feet from 9,539 square feet.
"This construction project represents a major step forward for the hospital," notes James Rohrbaugh, AVP and Chief Growth Officer at Inova Loudoun Hospital. "Once completed, patients will have access to the latest technology and design in the industry."
The updated facility, which is located at the setting of the original Inova Loudoun Hospital, will include private patient rooms. There are also plans to add an additional CT (computerized tomography) Unit to separate the outpatient and emergency department patients.
"We realize that privacy is extremely important to patients today," Rohrbaugh says. "We want to do everything we can to make the experience as comfortable for them as we can."
Undergoing one of the most unique design renovations is the 22-bed Loudoun Adult Medical Psychiatric Services. It will be constructed to accommodate small units of patients. That way, the hospital can appropriately group patients into geriatrics or young adults, for example, to provide specialized care.
Other modern touches include more windows and natural light to make the hospital feel brighter and more pleasing to patients, visitors and employees.
The groundbreaking ceremony took place this month. The first phase of construction, which likely will be completed in December 2012, will encompass the emergency department, outpatient imaging, materials management, patient transport, security, the Loudoun Community Free Clinic, the Loudoun Child Advocacy Center and central plant upgrades. The second phase, set to start in October 2012, will include the Loudoun Adult Medical Psychiatric Services section. This phase is set to be completed in September 2013.

Inova Medical Center – Lovettsville, located at 2 Broad Way, is scheduled to open in early September. It will offer primary care medical services with four examination rooms at the former Lovettsville Post Office. Soon Lovettsville residents and those living in the western part of the county will not have to travel far to receive world-class care. |
